Gros Morne Backcountry Cabins

Many guests choose to package their winter experiences with a stay in one of our Gros Morne Backcountry huts, or off grid cabins as they are known locally. Our warm rustic cabins are located high in the Long Range Mountains on a remote glacier carved pond and provide the perfect base camp for anyone of our winter adventures. Spend your days exploring the trails and your evenings with food, friends and a crackling wood stove

Staying in this private wilderness location is a chance to unplug and get back to what really matters whilst turning your winter adventure into an exciting multi-day mountain experience. Cabin packages are all inclusive and include all meals, equipment, tours and custom evening activities like a winter bonfire, epic stargazing and night adventures.

Packages are all inclusive with meals, equipment, tours and custom evening activities. Every group is different and every trip can be customized just for you

The Best Location

Our backcountry cabins are in the best winter conditions in Western Newfoundland & Gros Morne. The groomed snowmobile trail network is available nearby with routes to North Arm Hills, Western Brook Pond, Overfalls, Woody Point and more. For snowshoers and backcountry skiers, wake up to fresh powder every morning with direct access to untouched rolling terrain of the long range mountains. We even have our own “bowl” next to the cabins.

Fully Guided and Fully Private

Packages include an on site guide during your entire backcountry cabin experience. Guests will have the cabin to themselves and complete privacy; the guide is nearby at another cabin a few minutes down the pond. In most of Gros Morne there is little to no cell service however guests will have a connection with our guides via radio or satellite communication device.

Our Gros Morne backcountry huts are within snowshoeing distance from each other. They are clean, well-built, secluded and rustic accommodations, powered by a gas generator and heated with a traditional wood stove. Firewood is provided along with any training on how to properly tend a wood stove. The cabins contain all regular kitchen equipment, propane range, cooking utensils, pots, pans, cutlery, plates, glasses, spices, etc and warm clean comfortable mattresses. Each cabin contains a cell phone booster that provides a suitable connection for checking in and emergency calls. There are no shower facilities in the backcountry cabins, however there is gravity fed water to the kitchen sinks and a bathroom with vanity and manual flush toilet. Simple yet cozy, these cabins offer many of the comforts of home, just in the middle of the mountains.


Incredible mountain and water views, cabin one is the larger of the two huts with a 5 person occupancy and all the standard amenities mentioned above. Open concept living, dining and kitchen area, small bathroom, large bunk room with 4 twin bunks and a cozy loft with double bed. There’s a collection of playing cards, board games, dartboard and small wall mounted tv with built in dvd player. Perfect for an off grid backcountry movie night. Click on Photos to Expand


Tucked away in a forest of old growth spruce, creating plenty of privacy with a vintage cabin vibe. Big windows, natural wood walls and contains all the standard amenities mentioned above. It contains an open concept living, dining and kitchen area, small bathroom, two bedrooms containing a single adult sized bunkbed for a 4 person occupancy. ALL ABOARD!! Now you can finally take the whole funny farm along for that backcountry trip. The kids, the dog, even the mother in law will love cruising the trails in our comfy, windproof snowcoach.
