Gros Morne ATV Tours FAQ

Everything you need to know about your backcountry adventure.

Do we drive the Side-by-Sides ourselves?
No. For your safety and relaxation, all our Gros Morne ATV tours are fully guided and chauffeured. Your professional guide handles the driving, navigation, and terrain.
Are these tours private?
Yes. We specialize in exclusive, private experiences. When you book a machine, you are booking it for your group only. You will never be paired with strangers.
Is this suitable for young children?
Absolutely. Our enclosed Side-by-Sides are the perfect family-friendly adventure. We welcome children ages 5 and up. The ride is smooth, safe, and comfortable.
Is this accessible for seniors/low mobility?
Yes. This is the most accessible way to explore the Gros Morne backcountry. Guests simply need to step into the vehicle. There is no hiking required to see the amazing views.
What happens if it rains?
We ride rain or shine! Our Arctic Cat Prowler Pro machines are equipped with hard-top roofs and full windshields to protect you from the elements.
How many people can fit in one machine?
Each machine comfortably seats up to 6 guests (plus the guide). The seating is bench-style with plenty of legroom.
We have a large group. Can we still book?
Yes! For larger groups, you can book our "Private Fleet Safari." We run two machines simultaneously in a convoy, accommodating up to 11 guests together.
Do I need to hike to see the sights?
No. We drive directly to the viewpoints. However, on our 4-Hour "Ultimate Expedition," there is an optional guided hike available if your group wishes.
What are our chances of seeing wildlife?
Gros Morne is home to Moose, Caribou, Black Bears, and Arctic Hare. While wildlife is never guaranteed, our guides know the best spots to look, especially on the Sunset Safari.
What should we wear?
Dress in layers. The weather in the mountains can be cooler. We recommend long pants, a sweater, and closed-toe shoes. Avoid flip-flops.
Where is the meeting point?
Our ATV tours depart from the Water's Edge Campground. Detailed driving directions are sent in your booking confirmation.Water's Edge
Do I need a National Park Pass?
Yes. Since we operate inside Gros Morne National Park, all guests are required to have a valid Park Pass. These can be purchased at our smain shop located at the Water's Edge.
Are there bugs or black flies?
In the deep woods, bugs can be present. However, because we are moving in a vehicle, they are rarely an issue. We recommend insect repellent for photo stops.
Is it a bumpy or rough ride?
We use premium Arctic Cat Prowler Pros, known for their smooth suspension. While we travel off-road, the ride is much smoother and more comfortable than a traditional ATV.
Can we bring food and drinks?
Yes, you are welcome to bring water and snacks. Please help us keep the park pristine by packing out whatever you pack in.
Are there restrooms on the tour?
There are no washrooms in the backcountry. We recommend using the facilities at the trailhead before we depart.
How does the "Fjord & Forest" Combo work?
It’s the ultimate day trip! We handle the logistics of getting you on the Zodiac Boat Tour in the afternoon and the ATV Safari in the morning (or vice versa). Check out more about the boat tour here Wild Gros Morne
